the unveiling...
...of our new rug!
Honestly, you have no idea just how exciting this was for Michael and me.
(We've clearly entered adulthood...I never thought I'd see the day when I was this excited about a rug.)
We've done our fair share of searching for "the perfect rug".
We've measured the room countless times
and have had many discussions about which size we should get.
We've researched prices (why are they so darn expensive?!)
We've scanned website after website,
until we finally found our dream rug on Overstock.com about a month ago.
It was the perfect size,
we loved the simple pattern,
and we decided the colors would fit well with our furniture.
The only problem?
It didn't fit our "rug budget".
BUMMER.
Michael, being the optimistic one,
checked the website daily to see if the price had dropped.
It stayed the same, day after day after day.
I was losing hope quickly and was ready to start searching again for the next "perfect rug".
December 26th was our lucky day.
Michael clicked over to the website to check on the price and to our amazement,
the rug had dropped $37!
IT WAS NOW WITHIN OUR PRICE RANGE!
I've never clicked the "purchase" button so fast in my life.
SO, without making you wait any longer, I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story...
I've had a cheesy grin on my face since approximately 4:00 Sunday afternoon.
It was worth the wait.

Very pretty! I also love the colors of your walls! Yellow is such a happy color! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Hannah! You're so sweet. :)
DeleteI must give credit to the previous home owners for the colors on the walls on the main floor of our house...they did a fabulous job. I agree, the yellow color is definitely very cheery!
Oooohh I love it! Such a pretty rug, it's the perfect addition!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Andrea! I think it's the perfect addition, as well.
DeleteIt definitely gives the room a more "cozy" feel. :)

I love your rug! Your house is so cute too! I love how bright and happy it is.
ReplyDeletethanks, girl!
Deleteit makes our family room feel very cozy now...I love it!
thank you for your sweet compliments about our house. It's 102 years old, so it has loooots of character (and uneven floors, doorways, etc.) haha
Your house is GORGEOUS! Love everything about it! My husband and I will *hopefully* be moving soon, so I'm having fun soaking in some home decor inspiration. The yellow walls are to die for!
ReplyDeleteohhh Heather, thank you! :)
Deletethat's soo exciting that you'll be moving soon.
it's so much fun to decorate a new space
(but overwhelming, too, as I'm trying to find the money and time to get plenty of projects done around here!)
Hi Kristen! The rugs looks awesome. So is your sofa more of a light cream or a darker beige? The top pictures make it look so light and the after pictures it looks so much darker. Either way, your house is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah! thanks for stopping by! :)
ReplyDeleteOur sofa is a light cream color...the reason for the color change is because the before pictures were taken when the sun was streaming through our windows. The after pictures were taken when the sun was setting, so the couches didn't have the sunlight streaming in on them.
GREAT rug! your living room is so pretty! I love that yellow color--our bedroom paint is similar, and it makes me happy. I am glad to be reading "fresh start" along with you!
ReplyDeletethis is random, but do you use GFC/blogger to read blogs? or do you have another way of hitting up the blogs that you like? i am starting to get overwhelmed trying to keep up with everyone! follow me back sometime if you use GFC. :)

thanks, Rachel! the yellow definitely makes me cheery. it's a good color for walls, especially in the yuck of winter. :)
DeleteI am having the same problem over here. Why are rugs so expensive?? I love the rug you guys chose. It really does go perfectly with your decor. I might have to go check out overstock as well!
ReplyDeleteugh, rug shopping was a lot more difficult than I envisioned it being (thanks to the big price tag on most rugs!)
Deletethanks for your sweet compliments. you should definitely check out overstock...and if you find one you like there that's not within your price range, keep checking it out. the prices DO, in fact, change! :)
