tour.

Christmas decorating happened this past weekend at our house.

This year, it was a bigger deal than usual.
(for me, anyway)
I was still struggling with feeling settled here...
missing our old house and the comfort it provided.

Let me say this-
Sunday night after the decorations were up
and the house was all clean after hosting Thanksgiving,
I fell in love with our new house.
I love the cozy feel.
I love that our little 102 year old home is even more beautiful
with a little help from the Christmas decorations.

I want to leave them up year round.

Anyway,
enough of my blabbering...I'll let the pictures do the talking.

J was pretty excited to play with his very own Nativity set...

..and flip through some new reading material.

 And let's not forget,
a few of my favorite ornaments that get hung on our tree
year after year.

...and although this is not decoration related,
I still wanted to share this sweet photo I captured
during our Thanksgiving celebration with family.
Uncle Mark is pretty much the best.

  1. Oh, it's perfect!

I especially love the "Ho Ho Ho" on your mantel -- Super fun.

Any great holiday reads James can recommend to Maile? ;)

    1. Thank you! I just recently purchased those old letterpress blocks at a holiday "junk" market and wanted to spell something Christmas-y. "Ho Ho Ho" had the letters that were easiest to find, so that's how I decided on that. So scientific, I know. :)
As far as great holiday reads goes, we really enjoy the "That's Not My _______" books around here. James has the "That's Not My Reindeer" and we flip through that one all the time because it's a touch and feel.
We also like "There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Bell"...lots of rhyming.
My mom just bought "Twas The Night Before Christmas" for James, so I'm looking forward to reading that this year.

    1. Ahhh yes! It's simply my favorite.
Shabby Chic/Vintage anything is right up my alley! :)
So glad you enjoy that style, too!

  3. Hi!
Just read about you on Katies page so I wanted to stop over. Your house is over 100 years old?! That is awesome, up until recently I always wanted to live in a new house, but now dream to live in something with history and charm. Your decorations are beautiful and your little man is truly adorable!

    1. Hi Shannon! Thanks so much for stopping by, I so appreciate it. :)
YES! I have always loved older homes with lots of charm and character, so when we knew we were moving, we started looking for older homes. This one was in the right price range and was perfect for our family.
Although there can be a lot of upkeep with an older home, the character and charm TOTALLY makes up for it. :)
Thanks for all of your lovely compliments!

I crafted the "O Holy Night" banner last year (thank you, Pinterest!) and had a lot of fun doing it.
      It's quick and easy!

The "Baby's First Christmas" ornament is definitely a very special one...are you hoping to adorn your tree with one of those ornaments in the near future? ;)

I actually just recently became a follower of your blog (a few weeks ago) and have loved getting to know you on there. Such a sweet family you have.
Were you able to get your Christmas decor up? If so, I hope it was a success!

  7. how beautiful! I love the rustic reindeer sign, and the Willow Tree nativity set. I have a simpler version of it, and I may have to invest in a Little People nativity set too!

    1. Thank you, thank you, Rachel!
The Willow Tree set is all thanks to Christmas presents the past few years. :)
You should definitely invest in the Little People nativity set...it's really great for the little ones to manipulate/play with.
